Dudley Schools' Symphony Orchestra (DSSO) - 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert
BOOK TICKETS
DUDLEY TOWN HALL
Sunday 11 May 2025 - 3pm
Dudley Schools' Symphony Orchestra (DSSO) was created 50 years ago in 1975, so we are celebrating its 50th birthday.
In the intervening years it toured the world: Europe to North America, Australia to Singapore. It has performed at the National Festival Hall in London, Mechanics Hall in Worcester Massachusetts, Australian Houses of Parliament and Bremen Town Hall to name but a few. Guest artists have included eminent performers such as John Lill and Peter Katin.
At the heart of it all, though, are the young people who played in it during those years. Through it, lifelong friendships were created and many of those (then young!) students are still musically active today.
So, to celebrate the family that is DSSO, they are coming together to present a special 50th anniversary concert, conducted by Keith Horsfall, which will include many of the pieces that they enjoyed playing. Highlights will include Finlandia, Nimrod and Die Fledermaus Overture. Especially for the young people (under 12s come for free) will be Encanto, Lion King and Superman! And, there will be a VERY noisy encore!
