Crofter's daughter Kirsty dreams of emigrating to America with her sweetheart Murdo. But hopes and plans are disrupted by the outbreak of war, and Murdo is among the young men who enlist.
A dance is held the night before they leave, and by the next day Kirsty’s life has tragically changed course.
