STOURBRIDGE TOWN HALL (Wollaston Studio)
Sunday 11 October 2026 - 2.15pm
Three classic black and white comedies featuring the greatest double-act of all time, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy - including their iconic 1932 Oscar-winning landmark, The Music Box.
You're Darn Tootin' (1928)
After a disastrous concert appearance, two skint musicians of questionable talent try to raise their rent by playing on street corners in one of the duo's best silent comedies. Also known as The Music Blasters.
Below Zero (1930)
In the freezing winter of 1929, buskers Stan and Ollie discover their creaky rendition of In the Good Old Summertime fails to find favour. But then a chance discovery looks set to reverse their fortunes.
The Music Box (1932)
The Boys have a piano to deliver. However, the address - at the top of a long flight of steps - proves somewhat challenging. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Comedy Short.
Presented by John Ullah, Grand Sheik of The Laughing Gravy Tent (the Birmingham branch of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society), and author of This Is More Than I Can Stand, the biography of Birmingham-born Laurel and Hardy co-star Charlie Hall (who appears in two of the selected films).
A Birmingham Comedy Festival presentation in association with The Laughing Gravy Tent (Birmingham).
