In Sound Company community choir presents The Joy of Spring! with special guest Gren Bartley.
Come and listen to In Sound Company as we celebrate The Joy of Spring!
We look forward to your company as we perform a wide variety of music old and new from the British Isles and around the world, sung in full, four-part harmony by this Stourbridge-based community choir who are continuing to go from strength to strength.
Included in our programme for this concert will be the local première performance of a new song written by one of the choir's members retelling the story of the women chain-makers from the Cradley Heath area. The set will feature many other highlights, including works by Carole King and Paul Simon.
We're delighted to welcome as our guest local singer-songwriter Gren Bartley to share some of his original songs with us.
In Sound Company (ISC) is a friendly local community choir based in Stourbridge. Formed in 2012 with only 19 singers, the choir has since increased to around 80 members, singing a wide range of musical styles under the direction of their conductor Judith Moreland.
Since its first performance as part of the celebrations for the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay in Birmingham, ISC has put on regular concerts, often raising money for local charities, and has taken part in singing workshops, festivals and tours. The choir also enjoys performing in partnership with local charity fund-raising arts organisation Gig Caritas, including this year's Best of Broadway production in Dudley Town Hall.
In 2022, ISC celebrated its 10th anniversary in multiple ways, including a special concert and ceilidh, performing in Symphony Hall as part of the Community Spirit concert, becoming part of the massed choir at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, and producing a video retrospective capturing the many enjoyable activities from the last 10 years - look for us on YouTube!
ISC rehearses every Monday evening during term-time at St James' Church Hall in Wollaston. New singers are welcome, particularly tenors and basses. There is no audition. For further information please visit our Facebook page or our website at insoundcompany.org.uk
